Birthday Weekend in Chicago

Happy Birthday to all my Aries babies!

My birthday is March 23rd, which happened to fall on a Friday this year. I’m blessed to have some amazing best friends who flew/drove in from Ohio for the weekend 😜 Time goes by way too fast because it seems like not long ago we were just in Miami for my last birthday. Anyways, this year I took my friends to some of my favorite places in Chicago which I wanted to share with you guys.

Thursday –

My boyfriend and I celebrated a day early with dinner at Gibson’s Italia, a spinoff of Gibson’s original steakhouse. It’s a brand new high-end Italian restaurant that just opened in the fall and sits right on the river with 3 floors, a roof deck, and outdoor patio for summer. I personally love the 3rd floor for dinner because it has an amazing view of the water and city. Definitely one of the best places in Chicago as far as food, drinks, atmosphere, and city views. (The oreo-crusted banana dessert is to die for.)

Friday –

First things first,  Moe’s Cantina in River North for lunch. My friends and I wear this one out but kinda don’t care 😉 Margaritas, chips, & salsa always sound good.

Bottle Service at Bounce Sporting Club. One of my favorite bars/clubs when I lived in New York that finally expanded to Chicago. Now I’m just waiting for Tao to pop up here 😉

Saturday –

Shake Shack (in Chicago Athletic Association building) for lunch was a must. Luckily my friends love Shake Shack burgers & cheese fries just as much as I do.

Cindy’s Rooftop (also in Chicago Athletic Associate building) for drinks and views of Millennium Park and the famous Bean. It’s one of my favorite rooftop bars in Chicago because the inside is bright and airy with sky windows, but there’s also an outdoor section with amazing views of the lake and Michigan Ave.

Broken English Taco Pub (Loop location) for a quick margarita/beer. I love this place for drinks in the afternoon because they play good music all day every day. The interior and wall art is really fun too.

Dinner and drinks at Public House, another one of my favorites that I wear out, lol. If you follow me on Instagram you’ve seen the crazy cake shakes that they’re known for.

We stopped at LIQR BOX for a boombox cooler full of *alcoholic* juice boxes. It’s pretty new and super fun for drinks, definitely recommend!

Somehow we always end up at Bottled Blonde, more of a sports bar/restaurant during the day but gets rowdy at night. They always have a good DJ anddd it’s an Ohio State bar 😉

Sunday –

Brunch at one of my all-time faves, Bar Siena. Soo many different types of food and all of it is amazing – breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Must get: roasted meatballs (amazing), smoked mozzarella croquettes (my fave), fireball pepperoni pizza, the classico scrambled eggs and waffle hash browns, BomboBurger, and of course dessert. You can go to their BomboBar walk-up window or order the bombolonis in the restaurant. My favorite flavors are s’mores, Nutella, and confetti. The best cure for a hangover, promise.

Routine dinner at Eataly’s Pizza & Pasta restaurant. We discovered Eataly when I lived in New York which is where the obsession began. Every time my friends visit, we have to get Eataly at some point before they leave. It’s is a huge Italian marketplace with different little restaurants all under one roof. I stick to La Pizza & La Pasta but I’m sure the other restaurants are amazing too. Best spaghetti cacio e pepe and margherita pizza in the world – and you have to get both.
